Terms of service

Last updated: 10 June 2026

1. Who we are

Content Health Check is an AI-powered content analysis platform operated by Contentious Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 10289406 and registered office at 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE. These terms of service (the "Terms") govern your access to and use of the platform, our websites and related services (together, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The Service

The Service analyses web content against our content health framework and returns scores, insights and recommendations. The analysis is generated using automated tools, including AI models, and is provided for guidance only. It is not professional advice, and you remain responsible for decisions you take based on it.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You must be at least 18 years old, or have the authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of an organisation.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • submit content you do not have the right to analyse, or that infringes the rights of others;
  • use the Service to break the law or to analyse unlawful, harmful or abusive material;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
  • resell or redistribute the Service except as expressly permitted by your plan.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the URLs and content you submit and of your account and project settings. You grant us the licence needed to process that material in order to provide the Service (including passing it to the third-party processors listed in our privacy policy). We do not claim ownership of your content.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including the content health framework, software, branding and the structure and presentation of the analysis, is owned by Contentious Ltd or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms and your plan.

7. Plans, billing and renewals

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices are shown exclusive of VAT, which is added at checkout based on your location. Plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time from your billing settings; changes take effect as described at the point of change.

Each analysis (each URL or piece of content analysed, including re-analysis) consumes one credit from your plan allowance. Unused credits do not roll over between billing periods.

8. 30-day money-back guarantee

If you are not satisfied with a paid plan, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your first payment for that plan by contacting us at the address below. The guarantee applies to your initial purchase of a paid plan and not to subsequent renewals. We may decline refunds where the Service has been used abusively or in breach of these Terms.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available and reliable, but we provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis and do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may add, change or remove features over time. Where a change materially reduces the core functionality of a paid plan, we will give reasonable notice.

10. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue or data, and our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to us or others. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections intended to survive (including intellectual property, liability and governing law) continue to apply.

12. Data protection

We handle personal data in accordance with our privacy policy, which forms part of these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with them.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "last updated" date above and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
